Understanding Black Friday consumer trends

Before the first pixel is designed or a single line of code is written, we get to the heart of what your product needs to do – for your brand and your audience.

As part of Media24’s Advertising & Content Marketing team, Swipe iX partners with marketers, media buyers and brand leaders to bring digital ideas to life – whether that’s a content hub, campaign site or custom-built product. Often, clients come to us with a vision but need help shaping the specifics. That’s where discovery comes in.

It’s our way of turning early ideas into strategic, user-led products – built for performance, storytelling and scale.

From sketch to strategy

We’re often approached with a digital product in mind – a mobile app, a website or something more complex. While the vision may be clear, the detail is often not. That’s not a problem; in fact, it’s where the magic begins.

The one-sentence client brief is a common starting point – and we love it. A rough idea is an opportunity to collaborate, explore possibilities and unlock smarter ways of thinking. Through discovery, we shape that idea into something actionable and exceptional.

Introducing Swipe’s discovery offering

Our discovery phase has two main goals:

  • To crystallise a rough idea into a tangible product blueprint
  • To enable accurate cost estimates, reduce risk and surface opportunities early

Here’s how we do it:

1. User research: talking to people

Before jumping into solutions, we talk to users. This gives us critical insight into their goals, behaviours and pain points. Whether through fresh interviews or analysis of existing data, this step helps us avoid assumptions and ensures the product solves real problems.

2. Flow diagrams: deep thinking required

Next, we map user journeys. Flow diagrams help us visualise how users will move through the product, ensuring a logical, intuitive experience. They’re also a great communication tool – helping teams stay aligned on what’s being built and why.

3. Lo-fi wireframes: ugly but essential

Now it’s time to sketch out functionality. Lo-fi wireframes are deliberately basic. Their job is not to impress visually, but to show what should be on each screen and what needs to be prioritised. They bring clarity and keep stakeholders focused on user needs.

4. Prototypes: bringing ideas to life

With structure in place, we create a clickable prototype. This gives users a chance to interact with the product early – and gives us a chance to observe. We test, tweak and refine, because it’s always cheaper to make changes in design than in development.

5. Strategic brief: guiding development

To bridge design and development, we compile a strategic brief. It captures key design principles (usability, accessibility, responsiveness), outlines the tech stack and highlights required integrations (like payment systems or analytics). It also addresses scalability, ensuring the product can grow with your business.

Not your average spec doc

Our discovery process doesn’t end in a rigid requirements document. Instead, we create a living foundation that flexes with your project and aligns creative, strategic and technical teams from day one.

As technology and expectations evolve, we believe product teams need better ways to define and communicate what they’re building. At Swipe, we’ve developed a model that does just that.

Let’s make something great
